Helping Others… Animals Included.
May 27th, 2009Whenever my children have a school holiday, we try to do something special together, something that will be fun for the whole family. This past weekend we took a visit to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. It turned out to be a fun and educational experience.
The Aquarium is home to freshwater and saltwater fish and mammals that have been injured or orphaned. The Aquarium has a great staff who works with the animals to rehabilitate them. Our family saw otters, turtles, stingrays and dolphins. We got to see them up close, to pet, and even feed some of the animals. We learned about their natural habits and how some things were different for them in the aquarium environment.
Our kids learned a lesson in how we can help others (in this case animals) and how rewarding that can be. The highlight of the day was the dolphin show. We saw them perform lots of tricks and even got splashed a little. But it was all in fun, and that was probably the best part. Everyone was able to find something to enjoy and we had fun as a family.

When I read this post, I thought of Proverbs 12:10 (“A righteous man cares for the needs of his animal…”). It’s a great lesson to teach children. Keep up the good work of being a good father!

Coach… I have much respect for you and for your belief in GOD. You always see the good in people and help them become better Christians. I was very upset with your support for Michael Vick. I can understand your thoughts behind the decision, I just can’t support the man in any way. I read today that now BET Network is planning a 2010 program “starring” Michael Vick and that the program has your support as well as the NFL and Eagles. Please tell me that is not true! What Vick did was disgusting and shows a true character flaw. A flaw that I don’t think can be changed. I have only seen remorse from Vick for getting caught. His speaking engagements for HSUS have all been about him and how this impacted his life. I have never heard about his treatment of animals and how he killed them and remorse for that pain. Please do not support such a program, Vick needs to be taken out of the spotlight not given more limelight. I suspect that what ever deal he cut with BET didn’t include him donating his earning to animal welfare groups. Please Coach, do not support such a program.

I recently bought a fantastic CBR but had a little accident! I tried to slow down with the brake slowly and consistently with the front brakes but the wheel basically instantly slipped out under me!
