Hometown: Fraser, Michigan (born December 3, 1980) High School: Jim attended Fraser High School in Fraser, Michigan. He was an all-around athlete, lettering in basketball, baseball and football. Jim was as good of a baseball player as he was a football player, recording a .450 batting average. At quarterback, Jim set 17 school passing records. During his senior year, he was a 1st team All-State selection, USA Today Honorable Mention, and named the Detroit News’ “Dream Team” quarterback. Sorgi was good at completing passes because he always had a strong inclination of where the receiver was going to be. That attribute also contributed to his success as a defensive back. By the end of his high school career, Jim had intercepted opposing quarterbacks 16 times. When it came time to consider college options, Jim had several scholarship offers having been ranked the #1 high school quarterback in Michigan. Fraser High School retired Sorgi’s jersey number in honor of his performance, progress and community service through the years. College: Jim enrolled at the University of Wisconsin in 1999. He redshirted as a freshman and was very impressive in his first start the following year, throwing for two touchdown passes against rival Purdue. Jim played in 32 games over the next four years. In one of those games, he threw the longest pass play in school history. The pass connected with, current NFL All-Pro wide receiver, Lee Evans for a 99 yard touchdown. Together, Jim and Lee made up a lethal offensive. During a game versus Michigan State, Sorgi threw for a career record 380 yards and connected with Evans for five touchdowns. Jim ended his career at Wisconsin as the school’s pass efficiency leader, tied for the most passing touchdowns in a single game, and ranked 6th for the most passing yards by a Badger quarterback. He graduated in 2003 with a degree in agricultural business management. NFL Experience: Jim was the 28th pick in the 6th round in the 2004 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. As a rookie, Jim connected with Reggie Wayne for a 71 yard touchdown catch. The pass was the 4th longest in club history by a rookie. He spent six seasons backing up future hall of fame quarterback Peyton Manning before joining the New York Giants to play the same role for his younger brother, Eli Manning. After learning behind two super bowl champion quarterbacks, Sorgi has always aspired to be the starting quarterback for his own team, preferably his home state Detroit Lions.

Career Bio: PLAYER: University of Wisconsin (1999-2003), Indianapolis Colts (2004-2010), New York Giants (2010-Present) Career Highlights: • Wisconsin Badger football coaches named Jim “Rookie of the Year”• Super Bowl XLI Champion (Indianapolis Colts) Family Bio: Quarterback Jim Sorgi may have had the two easiest jobs in the world, backing up super bowl champion quarterbacks, brothers Peyton and Eli Manning. But he doesn't think his role as a backup quarterback has been his best job. Sorgi’s favorite job, however, is being a dad to his two sons, James and Jackson. "I get to share what a good dad should be," Sorgi said. "Even now I'm teaching them the essentials: please-and-thank-yous, do what we tell you, 1-2-3s and ABCs. We're teaching them to be respectful. I think we need to teach our kids respect as young as possible."Sorgi does this by showing love and respect to his wife, Lana, as well as his kids."I wake up every day showing my wife how much I love her, and the kids how much I love them," said Sorgi. "We also make sure we don't argue in front of the kids."Sorgi makes sure he spends plenty of time with his kids, especially in the off-season, since it can be hard to find that time during the regular season."I usually get to the office around 8 am, and home at 6 pm during the season, so it's hard to spend enough time with my family," said Sorgi. "But in the off-season, I get to make breakfast, tuck the boys in at night. I'm lucky enough where I don't have too much for three or four months. Even if I come in to lift and run, I still get home to be with them. I'm grateful for that time."Sorgi learned how to be a good dad by spending time with his own dad, whom he loves and respects. "I have a great relationship with my dad," said Sorgi. "He's not only my dad, but my best friend. I grew up with four sisters, and he was the only guy I could go to. So we bonded really early."
