"Coach Dungy has taught me a lot over the years, but the most important lesson was that being a father is my most important responsibility."

Colts quarterback Jim Sorgi may have the easiest job in the world, backing up perennial iron man, Peyton Manning. But he doesn't think it's the best job he has.

To Sorgi, his most favorite job is being a dad. Sorgi, who lives in Indianapolis year-round, is father to a 3-year-old and 1-year-old sons, James and Jackson.

"I get to share what a good dad should be," Sorgi said. "Even now I'm teaching them the essentials: please-and-thank-yous, do what we tell you, 1-2-3s and ABCs. We're teaching them to be respectful. I think we need to teach our kids respect as young as possible."

Sorgi does this by showing love and respect to his wife, Lana, as well as his kids.

"I wake up every day showing my wife how much I love her, and the kids how much I love them," said Sorgi. "We also make sure we don't argue in front of the kids."

Sorgi makes sure he spends plenty of time with his kids, especially in the off-season, since it can be hard to find that time during the regular season.

"I usually get to the office around 8, and home at 6 during the season, so it's hard to spend enough time with my family," said Sorgi. "But in the off-season, I get to make breakfast, tuck the boys in at night. I'm lucky enough where I don't have too much for three or four months. Even if I come in to lift and run, I still get home to be with them. I'm grateful for that time."

Sorgi learned how to be a good dad by spending time with his own dad, whom he loved and respected.

"I have a great relationship with my dad," said Sorgi. "He's not only my dad, but my best friend. I grew up with four sisters, and he was the only guy I could go to. So we bonded really early."

Sorgi was born in Fraser, Michigan in December 1980, and played football for Fraser High School, where he was named the Detroit News' "Dream Team" quarterback, and named first team all-state, all-county, and all-league during his senior year. Sorgi played college ball for University of Wisconsin, and was the school's career leader in passing efficiency and holds U of W's record for longest pass play.
