When does a student teach a teacher the most important lessons of life? When they marry! Jacksonville Jaguars' Strength and Conditioning Coach Mark Asanovich taught physical education and strength training at Anoka High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. One of his promising students was a beautiful girl named Allisen. While she was attending college, he asked her on their first date. So as not to have any questionable intentions, before asking, he not only got her dad's permission, but also the principal of his school. Mark and Allisen hit it off right away, and although they had struggles in their dating relationship, he knew she was the one for him. They were married on June 19, 1999.
When Mark and Allisen's first daughter Haley was born, they both felt an extreme joy and thankfulness. Realizing the love that God has for His children, Mark grew spiritually after her birth. Given his background in exercise science and knowing that life is truly a miracle, he felt the same sense of amazement and profound awareness of God's unconditional love with their second daughter Gracie's birth.
Mark and Allisen surround their kids with prayer - knowing they don't have all the parenting answers but having faith that by asking for God's guidance, He will breathe life into their parenting. With two daughters under age 5, Mark & Allisen stress good listening habits and respect for each other and family.
One thing he doesn't want his daughters to take for granted is our freedom. Mark's father and Allisen's grandfather were WWII veterans, and they want their children to know that freedom isn't free. In fact, he plans to take his family to Normandy Beach to appreciate the sacrifices that have been made for our country and to instill in them a sense of the price that has been paid for the liberties we often take for granted.
Mark enjoys spending time with the kids by swimming, story telling and reading. He is a recovering workaholic, so he likes to stay at home with his wife and daughters every chance he gets. His life couldn't be richer.
