A Knight Clad in Khakis
In medieval times, warriors would often wear small trinkets from their wives into battle. Handkerchiefs, necklaces, rings - whatever they could fit into the chinks of their armor. They were a walking advertisement of affection. Recently when my wife was having an especially hard day, I took one of her hair ties and wrapped it around my wrist. Throughout the day whenever I saw it, I'd stop and pray for her. This gesture touched her very deeply. And believe me, I'm no Romeo. Give this simple idea a shot next time your spouse is facing huge obstacles. Just take a trinket of hers and keep it visible on you somewhere. She'll be shocked that, even in the 21st century, you can still be her warrior-poet.
