I am really excited to watch the NCAA Final tonight as the Butler Bulldogs advanced to play for their second year in a row. When I was coaching the Colts, I had the opportunity to watch Butler play quite a bit. I developed a friendship with their coach, Brad Stevens, who has done a great job keeping the winning tradition going for the Bulldogs. Even more impressive than that, he has done it the right way. Butler’s success comes from everyone buying into the team concept, from working hard and working together. They have a great group of unselfish guys who have been tremendous role models in the city of Indianapolis.
Butler will have its hands full tonight with the Connecticut Huskies. They, too have an outstanding program, and have been red-hot in the tournament. It should be a great game and a great way to end the college season. I am pulling for the Bulldogs and wish Coach Stevens and the guys all the best tonight. I would love to see a big celebration back in Indianapolis if they can bring home a National Championship. It would be quite an accomplishment for the “little guys” of college basketball.
