The Jacksonville Jaguars: An Outstanding Player Draft Strategy

NFL training camps begin at the end of this month (finally!) and we, at All Pro Dad, try to stay impartial about what teams to cheer for, but all of us should be pulling for Jacksonville Jaguars off the field based on their latest player drafting strategy.  Above all else, the Jags want players with outstanding wives.

Executives in the Jaguars’ front office believe good football players have happy and healthy marriages, according to columnist Ben Maller.  Shahid Khan, the Jaguars new owner, took the concept he’d used to make his riches in the auto-parts business. Khan said he attempts to meet all of the spouses of his employees, even going as far as to take significant others on company retreats.

Mike Mularkey, the Jaguars’ new head coach, stressed free agents that have a good family life would become a priority. “If you’re happy at home with your wife at home, I think the energy level is higher,” Mularkey told The Wall Street Journal. “It’s very important to me … There’s a lot that goes with being married. I just believe the happier you are with your wife, the happier you are on the field. I really believe that.”

Wow.  That’s encouraging.  So no matter who your favorite NFL team is, you can at least cheer for the Jaguars’ priority of healthy marriages and the culture they are trying to build.  Let’s all rip a page from their playbook.  In the meantime, here are 10 tips for becoming a better husband.

Huddle up with your wife tonight and ask her:  “How do you think our marriage affects our life outside the home?”
