A True Olympian Hero

In the 1936 Olympic Games, Jesse Owens single-handedly astounded a world that was on the brink of war. At a time when Adolf Hitler was advocating the idea of a superior, Aryan race, Jesse, the son of a sharecropper and grandson of a slave, won four gold medals in the 100 meter sprint, 200 meter sprint, long jump, and 100 meter relay. In this video, watch Hitler’s facial expression and body language as he remains seated in his chair with his jaw set and hands clasped. Jesse Owens’ outstanding performance inspired people of all races and colors to believe in their dreams, no matter what obstacles the world stacked against them.
