Enjoy the NCAA Final Four this weekend with your children. Today we’d like to honor Jim Valvano. Nicknamed “Jimmy V,” he was the head basketball coach at North Carolina State University when he won the 1983 NCAA Basketball Tournament against long odds. Valvano is not only remembered for running up and down the court after winning the championship game, seemingly in disbelief and looking for someone to hug, but also for his inspirational 1993 ESPY Awards speech, given just eight weeks before he died of cancer. During that talk, Jimmy V said: “My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person. He believed in me.”
In honor of Jimmy V, we ask you to give your children that same gift. Here are 6 ways your kids know you believe in them.
Be sure to vote on today’s March Dadness matchups of Andy Taylor vs. Ricky Ricardo and Carl Winslow vs. Phil Robertson.
