Last Saturday my wife, Lauren, and I got to participate in a wonderful event. It was a fundraiser for Metropolitan Ministries with Leigh Ann and Collins Tuohy, the real-life mom and sister of Michael Oher of the movie The Blind Side.

Metropolitan Ministries does so much to help needy individuals and families in the Tampa area so it was natural to have the Tuohys speak about their family helping a young man who was homeless in the Memphis area and how they helped him go to college and on to a National Football League career. Our family had seen the movie and loved it so it was a treat to hear the story straight from the family who adopted Michael.

Mrs. Tuohy, with some funny stories, challenged everyone to get more involved in helping our communities. Lauren and I really enjoyed the night and we were glad to be part of helping such a great cause.
