Why Family First and the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence are partnering

Family First and the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV) are partnering to take a stand against domestic violence throughout the state. The partnership provides the opportunity to collaborate and share common messages about domestic violence prevention, strong families, and healthy relationships, focusing on engaging boys, men and especially fathers.

Family First is a national nonprofit organization that reaches millions of parents each day through its three primary programs: All Pro Dad, iMOM and the Family Minute with Mark Merrill.

What is FCADV?

In 1977 fourteen shelters in Florida formed a network of battered women’s advocates known as the Refuge Information Network. Several years later, this same organization was incorporated as the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence (FCADV). FCADV was founded on principles of cooperation and unity among shelters. Today, FCADV serves as the professional association for Florida’s 42 domestic violence centers. The mission of the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence is to work towards ending violence through public awareness, policy development, and support for Florida’s domestic violence centers.

FCADV provides leadership, advocacy, education, training, technical assistance, and support to Florida’s certified domestic violence centers, their community partners, and other statewide professionals to improve services, practices and policies related to domestic violence. In addition, the Coalition works toward preventing abuse by developing primary prevention programming that promotes building healthy relationships among youth to stop violence before it starts. FCADV also operates the Florida Domestic Violence Hotline (1-800-500-1119), a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week statewide crisis line providing multilingual services, that links callers to their nearest certified domestic violence centers and provides support, advocacy, information and referral services to survivors of domestic violence, their children.
