College Ball and Favre Ball

This past weekend was a little different for me, but a lot of fun. It started with no high school football on Friday night. My son Eric’s team had a bye, so we enjoyed some family time; celebrating my wife Lauren’s birthday at The Melting Pot. Our kids got to cook their own dinners at the fondue style restaurant and had a great time.

Because of the World Series, NBC did not have an NFL game Sunday night, but we did have a one-hour show. I was also asked to do the halftime show of our Notre Dame broadcast. It was different, commenting on college ball, but it went well. I got to watch a lot of the action all day and it looks like Florida, Alabama and Texas are heading toward a championship showdown. Tim Tebow had an outstanding game for Florida in their game against Georgia.

On Sunday morning, streets in Midtown Manhattan were shut down for the New York City Marathon. That made it nice because you could walk without having to worry about traffic. I tried to walk all the way to Harlem. I didn’t quite make it, but look forward to doing that one of the next few weekends.

In the meantime, did you catch the rematch between Minnesota and Green Bay which featured Brett Favre going back to Lambeau Field for the first time?  What a homecoming!   So, in case anyone is still asking if Brett Favre is for real, here’s what I think.
