What Achievements Are You Most Proud Of In Your Career?

This past August I had the honor of being inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame. One of my favorite parts of the experience was re-connecting with people who influenced me and reminiscing over the years of my career. I was recently asked, “What achievements are you most proud of in your career?” There are a number of achievements I enjoyed that make me proud. One of the first that most people mention of course is our trip to the Super Bowl. That was definitely an exciting time, however, there are two things I think about before that. These are the 2 achievements in my career that make me most proud.

Assistant Coaches Going On To Success

There have been six people who worked for me who went on to become head coaches. I had the opportunity to pour into their lives and help them get started. Seeing them grow into head coaches makes me proud.

Impact in the Community

Over my head coaching career, I had some tremendous players who not only did well on the field, but they also did great things in the community. I look at the city of Tampa and the city of Indianapolis and I see the mark that our players have made. I have people come up to me all the time and say that they enjoyed watching us play, but they really enjoyed looking up to specific players on our team. The fact that we carried ourselves as gentlemen and represented those cities well, I think that is what makes me most proud.
