Fall and Football

I have certainly enjoyed some great vacation time this summer, but with the arrival of August and the end of the NFL lockout, work is just around the corner.  I’m very excited about the start of football season.  We have a great schedule at NBC on Sunday nights and we will get started on August 21st with Dallas at San Diego in a pre-season Sunday night special.  We normally don’t do our pregame show in the pre-season but we are going to do this game and I’m excited to get together with Dan Patrick and Rodney Harrison to kick off our “season.”  We will get a chance to look ahead to our regular season opening weekend when we will have the defending champion Green Bay Packers hosting the New Orleans Saints on Thursday night, September 8th and the New York Jets hosting the Cowboys on Sunday night, September 11th. Should be a great start to the 2011 season.

I know Dan is going to ask me for my Super Bowl picks and I really don’t have two teams in mind yet.  This off-season has been so different with the lockout and so many players changing teams so late in the process. I really have to see some pre-season games to see how teams are coming together.

I’m also keeping my eye on the college football scene as my son’s team, the Oregon Ducks, are opening fall practice.  Last year I predicted in this blog that the Ducks had a chance at the BCS title and they came up a couple of points short.  I’m looking forward to watching them practice to see if I get the same vibes from this year’s team.  So, it should be a fun fall and a busy one in the Dungy household!
