There’s nothing like summer and summer vacation. Our kids are finishing up school now and, when they do, we take a family vacation and go out West. We try to get some cool weather. But more than anything, it’s just a time for us to really spend with each other, together, and I love that part of it.
My year is very busy in the fall. I know that when Labor Day comes, it’s going to mean travel, going to games, preparing for games, and getting ready for the Sunday night show. So for the summer months, I can really just relax and do the things that I want to do. But I also enjoy doing things that my kids want to do and my wife wants to do. The focus is on family time together.
I love being outside in the summer: bike riding, climbing mountains, hiking, being outdoors. And that’s what I’m really looking forward to. It doesn’t have to be anything big or elaborate—just spending time in nature with the kids. That relaxes me.
