Proud of My Son, Eric

I was recently encouraged by my son Eric’s interview with The Daily Emerald, the University of Oregon’s school newspaper. The last question they asked him was, “What advice has your dad given you that you’ve been able to apply?” They were expecting an answer related to football. Instead, Eric said, “Well my dad’s favorite Bible verse is ‘What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?’”

To Eric, that meant football wasn’t the most important thing and it reminded him to keep things in perspective. When he said that, it was encouraging to me to know that he listened and applied some of the things I taught him as he was growing up.  I’m very proud of Eric and the young man he has become.
