The life of a military family is not exactly easy. Kicker Todd Peterson knows this first hand. He was born February 4, 1970, in Washington D.C., to Greg, a U.S. Air Force base commander, and Jouree Peterson. Living all over the country and overseas meant moving away from friends and trying to make new ones. Fortunately for Todd and his younger sister Clair, the love, guidance and support from their military father made the moving and continually changing lifestyle more bearable. Add to the stress of moving the fact that Todd was a standout athlete and you've got one confused and stressed out kid.
The pressure from parents to excel and sometimes overachieve can be difficult for a young athlete. This, however, was not something that Todd ever experienced. Greg Peterson gave his children unconditional love and support. He taught them to work hard and be honest but to never let their identity get tied up in performance. He modeled integrity and a strong work ethic.
This is precisely how Todd has begun raising his two young children, Hannah and Zach. Todd feels that being a parent is a huge responsibility, but an even greater privilege. He stands by the Holy Bible's teaching that "The children are a gift from the Lord. “Todd and his wife, Susan, are committed to raising their children in a loving Christian home. Both are very active in Young Life, a Christian youth organization where Susan worked from 1994-98. Todd tries to instill the same good Christian values in Hannah and Zach that he promotes through his work in the community. He understands that he has an impact on everyone that his children come in contact with. He believes that this is the biggest issue with fathers today and he hopes to reach out to those fathers by being an All Pro Dad.
