Bio

On the football field, Twan Russell was known for his speed and defensive ability. But if there was one word that could define Twan it would be loyalty. Case in point, Twan has played football in the Miami area for high school, college and played extensively for the Dolphins. Community. Family. Loyalty. These are the principles Twan believes are central to life. Twan's loyalty can also be seen as a husband and a father. Lysandra, Twan's wife, is the "apple of his eye" and the mother of his children Taylor and Tyson. "Passing my values and beliefs onto my kids is not a choice for me," says Twan. "It is an obligation." The birth of his children have changed Twan's life in ways he could not imagine. The incredible amount of love he has for them has reminded him of "the vast amount of love God has for us."

With the loving support of Lysandra, Twan founded a non-profit organization called The Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation. Twan states that: "Concerned with the plight of at risk, inner city youth, and the lack of educational reinforcement in my community, I embarked upon an awesome task to eradicate illiteracy among inner city youths." Twan's experience as a father has also given him a heart for all children- to see them happy and successful.

For more information you may visit www.russellreadingroom.com Twan received the Walter Kichefski Award from the University of Miami for his dedication to the community. In addition, Twan has worked with youth at the Broward County Sheriffs' department, supports the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club. And now as an All Pro Dad, Twan continues to show his loyalty to community and family. Twan says: "I only wish I could do more." We say, we only wish there were more people like him.
