Relishing repetition

If there's one constant about raising small children, it's seeing how much they enjoy repetition.  A small boy may climb up and go down a slide all afternoon and be perfectly content.  A young girl may enjoy jumping rope in the driveway for hours. You see, for a child, there's an incredible capacity for wonder in doing what we adults see as trivial.

There's quite a temptation for parents to think we always have to entertain our kids or plop them in front of the newest TV cartoon.  But don't underestimate the simple things in life that can bring them so much joy.  It's the capacity to experience wonder that makes a child's life so wonderful.
