Marriage: A Big Choice

It was one of the biggest choices in my life and I had to answer a lot of questions: was this person right for me?  Did I really enjoy spending time with them?  Did we share the same values and goals?  Was I willing to lose them to someone else if I didn’t make an offer?

What choice am I talking about?  It’s funny because those questions actually could apply to two areas of my life-my past choices of an assistant coach, and my choice of a wife!  In all seriousness, choosing your right-hand man in the coaching world doesn’t even compare to the decision you make in choosing a wife.

I chose my wife, Lauren, almost 25 years ago, and thankfully, she chose me too.  We are committed to each other and to our family.  That commitment to each other, and to the vows we made before God, has kept us together.   Now I’m sure I don’t have to tell you that marriage is not always easy.  But when I feel like things are a little off in my marriage I try to look at what I need to do to make things better.

Yes, men, choosing who we were going to marry was a big choice, but so is choosing, every day, how we will treat our wives.
