I’ve always believed that the amount of money you have, the type of job you have or the way people look at you is never really what brings true happiness. I think happiness comes from the Lord. Happiness also comes from doing something you enjoy doing and feeling like your life is worth-while. In the 31 years that I was involved in the National Football League I saw a lot of people who had very significant titles, who had a lot of prestige and who had a lot of money but they weren’t always happy. However the people I saw who had true joy understood what the Lord was trying to do in their lives and were looking to help other people. I think it is so, so important to understand that as much as we enjoy good things in life, money and power will never bring the true happiness and joy that we all really need.
